Academic Continuity refers to the continuation of course activity at SUNY Buffalo State through campus supported technologies and online modalities for remote instruction. if necessary, in the event that all or parts of campus are closed and/or unavailable. In a real emergency which often occurs with little to no notice, knowing what to do and how best to do it will contribute greatly to our community resiliency and academic recovery.
In the event of an emergency, the ability to teach courses on campus may be affected. This guide helps you identify and become acquainted with alternatives to face-to-face instruction for use during situations when campus may be closed, and an increase of online presence must take place.
Before you begin transitioning your course plans and materials for remote instruction, please consider reviewing Open SUNY Course Quality Review Tool, and the Advice Guide: How to Be a Better Online Teacher (Chronicle of Higher Education).
As you make plans focus on what tasks you are trying to accomplish and reach out to the Teaching and Learning Center (tlc@buffalostate.edu) or Instructional Design & Training for assistance. You are also encouraged to register for sessions in the workshop registration system that will help you prepare for remote instruction.
