Student Accessibility Services (SAS) [http://sas.buffalostate.edu/]provides faculty with the appropriate tools and knowledge to ensure access for students with disabilities.
Because Buffalo State is a civil and caring community, committed to access, and strives to be in full compliance with all federal and state disability regulations; all course materials must be in an accessible format.
SAS appreciates that not all faculty know how to make their course materials accessible and will gladly instruct and guide you on how to meet the needs of a student requiring disability accommodations for your class.
SAS will frequently reach out to faculty prior to the start of the semester if a student has a unique or particularly time intensive need. Your timely reply will not only benefit the student but you as well.
If you are ever unsure how to approach a student who may potentially be struggling due to an undisclosed disability, please contact any of the SAS staff! We are here to help!
Students with disabilities must meet the same academic requirements as a student without a disability, with or without accommodations and disability-related accommodations cannot fundamentally alter a course requirement. However we may utilize a creative approach in the delivery of content or assessment with the goal of "leveling the playing field" for a student with a disability.
